Guidelines to Writing a Performance CV
There are different types of CV formats used when writing CVs including performance CV, targeted CV, chronological CV, and functional CV formats. Performance CV is however the most commonly used format because it fits most job descriptions in the market.
If you want to know how to write performance CV format, this is how it should be done:
Provide a short summary of your qualifications, experience, skills, and interests in about six lines. Only list the most appropriate attributes to the job profile and leave out anything that does not add value. Remember, your employer is not interested in irrelevant details.
Provide a summary of about 3 to 5 achievements that you feel will be of added value for the position applied for. Leave out achievements that are irrelevant to the job profile. It’s always good to put the achievements in bullet form to make them stand out. Begin with the strongest points as you go backward.
Provide a summary of your job experience in reverse chronological order starting with the most recent job. When writing a performance CV Emphasize the company name, job title, and year, month, and day you finished the job. Describe your duties and achievements under the job title. If you’ve had many jobs within a short period, you may group them together.
Only include the most relevant training courses when writing a CV. For some training courses, you may want to combine them together with your educational qualifications depending on how much space you still have.
Only include the most relevant information in this section. Usually, this section comes before work experience, not unless you’ve just completed your degree. If recently graduates, most likely your work experience including part-time jobs, charity work, and so on will be of much interest to your employer.
Finally, any other additional information including extracurricular activities and other interests may be added. Personal identifying information such as date of birth, nationality, and marital status is not a must include.
