Write an evidence based practice paper using the PICO model for “The Effect of Substance Use Disorders on Cardiovascular Events”.
The paper is guided by the PICO question (see below), and will include a critical analysis of evidence using at least five peer-reviewed studies at the highest levels of evidence that provide answers to your PICO question. These articles should be no more than five years old and be from relevant and respected primary sources. Begin with a search for systematic reviews and then proceed down the levels of the evidence pyramid.

PICO question:
P (Patient/Population): Individuals with Substance Use/Abuse Disorders (ex: illicit drugs such as cocaine, heroin, methamphetamines, MDMA, LSD, PCP, Peyote, etc…)
I (Intervention/Exposure): Drug users with substance abuse/use disorders
C (Comparison): Individuals WITHOUT substance abuse/use disorders
O (Outcome): Cardiovascular events or episodes (Ex: acute coronary syndromes such as a STEMI or non-STEMI, dysrhythmias, heart failure, VTEs such as pulmonary embolism or deep vein thrombosis, cardiomyopathy, or hypertensive crises
Question: For patients with substance use disorders, does their risk for cardiovascular events or episodes significantly increase in comparison to those without a history of drug use?
