From the strategic aptitude test, my strengths include learn and decision. I usually try to understand a situation before making an informed decision. This is evident in the actions regarding my job activities or decisions in the company.

In what areas could you improve the skill?

From the test assessment, I need to improve my align skill. This is evident especially in adapting my perspective or view with the company’s vision or policy on certain matters. I need to be adaptable to align with the company’s policies and mission.

Discuss how the promotion of conversation-based practices within the organization can contribute to the leader’s strategic ability

It is evident that change is achievable through the implementation of strategic leadership in an organization (Groysberg & Slind, 2012). Traditional corporate communication methods are currently not applicable, and the present process is more sophisticated, more dynamic and should be conversational. Notably, this has made smart leaders of today engage with their employees in a manner, which resembles a normal person-to-person conversation. This has fostered cultural norms and initiated practices, which teach a conversational sensibility in the entire organization. It is through the conversations that the employees and managers get more information about certain actions, their basis and how aligned they are with the company’s policies.

There are six essential strategic leadership skills, which enable leaders to think strategically, as well as navigate the unpredictable effectively. These include the abilities to align, anticipate, interpret, challenge, learn, and decide. An adaptive strategic leader will be flexible, resolute and persistent when faced with numerous challenges. The leader will be able to respond strategically to various environmental and economic shifts. A strategic leader should be able to anticipate through detecting ambiguous opportunities and threats on the edge of their business (Schoemaker, Krupp & Howland, 2013). Also, strategic leaders are able to question the current status quo when they challenge their personal and other peoples’ assumptions and encourage opposing perspectives as well. Understanding and interpreting information provide basis for informed decisions as they align their organizations. In essence, this process will make them learn since strategic leaders are mainly the epicenter for organizational learning.
