There exist several traits that a leader should manifest in order exercise effective control, especially to achieve success within their groups. In my opinion, one of the most important attributes that a leader should portray is that of being a visionary. A visionary leader will have plans for future success. The aspect of a visionary will enable an individual to desire to achieve certain positive strides during his or her leadership, a great component for success. In addition, being visionary will influence a number of other factors that are central towards the achievement of the ultimate goal, which is success and general improvement.

Are there some common traits for leaders? Please provide rational for your answer.

Despite individual character variations, there are certain common traits that every leader should manifest in order to preside over any group. These traits are pertinent in leading either formal or informal groups.

Problem-solving Skills

Problems often characterize every environment and grouping, and therefore, any person willing to be at the helm of leadership must have the ability to devise measures of solving problems as they arise. Whenever any challenge is realized, a leader should be able to detect the opportunity arising from such factors. Consequently, they are able to lay plans to overcome the problem. This trait will also enable the leader double as a uniting factor within the group.

Accommodative

A leader controls individuals from diverse background besides other pronounced differences. As a leader, one should be able to adopt fair treatment among junior employees without any form of biasness. Cases of discrimination could be compromising to the operations of the entity and thus should be eliminated.

Creativity

Creativity offers an individual the opportunity of coming up with new measures of undertaking actions in a more effective and efficient manner. Being creative also involves putting into consideration innovative techniques that would allow the group or organization competitive advantages against their competitors.

Confidence

This is the ability to adopt a stern stand and actions on issues. For example, a confident person takes full responsibility for his actions besides being ready to defend the action. A confident leader will tend to influence the spirit of confidence among the subjects hence fostering unity in adopting actions. Being confident will also allow the leader to go for existing opportunities boldly. Many leaders in the world portray confidence in their actions.

Barack Obama. The former president of the United States is appreciated for adopting confidence in the adoption of different foreign policies. Without considering the negative perception from different parts of the world, Obama confidently considered mending ties with Middle East countries that had been greatly affected by the Bush regime.

Nelson Mandela: he is largely known for fighting the apartheid policy in South Africa. Despite the possible consequences such as detention, he was never deterred from advocating for equality in the region. Despite the political support by majority of African leaders, Nelson Mandela managed to champion for equality, a virtue that is still enjoyed in the country.

Martin Luther King: The former president of the US confidently took a noble role in fighting for racial equality in the country confidently.

Physical attributes vary and cannot be used to determine the ability of an individual to exercise good leadership.

As a leader, Winston Churchill exercised key several leadership abilities that were behind the successful regime he realized.

Among the leadership characteristics that Churchill had included;

Visionary: He believed setting prior goals was one of the major measures of being denied the ticket. Churchill was among its principal promoters and utilized it to rally for Victory.

Persistence: Sir Winston Churchill rose to the event to rally his country, regardless of the possibility that triumph at the war at one point distressing. He was a man of incredible boldness and good faith. In times of sadness, Britons admired him for consolation. He was an unfaltering divider, everlastingly certain, and perpetually defensive.
