What Is the Impact of EHRs on Patient Outcomes?

EHR automates the drug and exam ordering processes in healthcare facilities, resulting in uniform, readable, and full orders. Patients obtain better medical care when health care providers have access to complete and accurate information. EHRs can help doctors diagnose diseases more quickly and reduce or even avoid medical errors, resulting in better patient outcomes.

By providing up to date and full information about patients at the time of care, EHRs assist providers in better managing patient care and providing better health care. Providing quick access to patient records so that care can be organized and delivered more efficiently. When possible safety issues arise, EHRs can alert doctors, allowing them to prevent more serious repercussions and improving patient outcomes.

Additionally, integrated scheduling systems lower patient wait times in the office, resulting in a better overall experience from the time they book an appointment to the time they walk in to see their doctor. Also, patients can read important documentation on their own time if they have access to this information via a portal. The evolution of EHR has resulted in a strong tool that allows doctors to better manage diseases that are preventable. Doctors can stay on top of their patients’ health by being able to identify patients who have not yet had crucial screening examinations.

Care coordination enabled by the use of such technology allows for more efficient and accurate patient visits, easier documentation, elimination of double entries and duplicate testing, and even tracking of billing and patient insurances.
