The divine obligation of the man is to take care of the wife and he should acknowledge her by giving her gifts or paying for her dowry. In Islam, marriage is a contract that should be authorized before engaging in any sexual intercourse.
Women and men in a wedlock act as the guardians of each other without considering the role of either of the spouses. The teachings of Islam also forbid men to be alone with other women apart from their wives because they can fall into temptations. Nevertheless, polygamy is allowed in Islam.
