            Online and oral presentations allow individuals to use their communication skills including speaking, research, and writing. Presentations also demonstrate one’s ability to think fast, adapt to various challenging situations, and to handle complex issues. Visual qualities are critical components while designing effective presentations (Peery, 2011). Specifically, the six major design tasks and writing tasks are important in building attractive presentations. The first step involves choosing between the free-form or structures slides. The structured slides normally follow the conventional design plan in virtually all the slides of the presentation. Besides, structured slides are designed with the templates available in the presentation software and convey information using bullet points. Contrary to the structured slides, the free-form have a uniform color, font size, and other design aspects but they do not follow any prescribed design.     The second step involves looking for opportunities for designing the slides around a fundamental visual that explains and unites the major points (Peery, 2011). The third step involves limiting the word count and maintaining the font size large enough in order to be read easily. The third step is for slides that contain textual content. Certainly, ensuring that the graphic elements are clear and simple allows the readers to grasp the information from far. Agreeable, choosing the right design elements such as color, artwork, background, foreground, and other design styles enhances the message on the presentation. Furthermore, adding the right multimedia and animations elements in the presentation helps in building interest among the audience and enhances their understanding of the presentation.

            The resume communicates one’s academic qualifications, knowledge, work experience and capabilities to the employers. As a job seeker, you must recognize that the hiring manager is your audience every time you writing a resume. Therefore, adapting your resume to the hiring manager increases chances of being considered for the position. Furthermore, adapting your resume to the hiring manager helps you to remain focused to the objectives of a particular job. It means that as a job seeker, you must tailor the resume every time you are applying for a job in order to suit the different audiences (Parker, 2002). Revising the resume is worthwhile considering how effective the document becomes in today’s competitive job market.

             Keeping your resume accurate, honest, and without exaggeration about experience and qualifications matters a lot. Failing to tell the truth may haunt you before you are hired or during your future career. Most employers conduct background checks as part of the hiring process and irregularities revealed by the background check will definitely cost you the new job. Employers believe that the background checks reflect your true character. It is worthwhile to use generic terms to downplay certain differences as well as emphasizing similarities between the previous job and your current job objective (Parker, 2002). For instance, I did presentations to multicultural audiences and incorporated a series of activities including individual coaching to ensure that everyone understood my subject. This is an excellent example of an active statement and the preferred version adapted from a weak statement. The weak statement was poorly framed as follows; I did presentations to corporate managers, top executives, and general managers accomplishing an average of 50% more sales than my colleagues.

            Regardless of the format used for designing the resume and the information you include, there are things that you can add to make your resume exceptional. Customizing your resume for every new job you are applying is an excellent strategy that boosts your success in your job search. The profile and summary sections can be revised to match the specific post you are applying for (Parker, 2002). It is crucial to create different versions of your resume especially where you are applying common positions. Having different versions eliminates the need to customize your resume now and then. Ensure that your core objectives, profile, and the summary are supported by the other parts of your resume. This means that you need to include in the body of the resume specific examples that reinforces the profile, summary, and the core objectives. Additionally, including key phrases and words that matches the job you are applying for is critical since employers look for the key words that indicates you have the knowledge and skills they require for that job.

            Furthermore, it is good to be concise as recruiters scan as many as a thousand resumes in order to fill a single position (Parker, 2002). They want to point out your skills and achievements in the fewest words possible. Using concise language in bullet points is the best strategy. This approach demonstrates your communication skills and highlights your expertise areas in the most concise manner. Listing your past achievements other than just the responsibilities using the standard measures boosts your success. Since most employers compare your abilities with those of other candidates, highlighting by what percentage you helped to increase sales or telling the number of employees that you supervised further increases your success of being hired. These are the key strategies needed for designing a winning resume.
