Proactive hazard controls
In the aviation industry hazards can lead to instances that are likely to result into injuries, death, illnesses, damage to aircraft systems, lose of property and damage to the aviation environment. It is opined that due to the capabilities of hazards to the aviation environment proactive hazard identification and methods should be put in place. It is asserted that this will ensure that hazards are identified and controlled through analyzing the performance of systems and intrinsic threats and potential failures of such systems (Stolzer and Goglia, 2015). Aviation experts have asserted that proactive methods to achieve hazard controls entail safety surveys, operational safety audits, monitoring and safety assessments.
It is the mission of the aviation industry to promote and initiate the highest standards of safety and standards to protect people and property from hazards. It can be deduced that hazard control process is proactive since it entails analyzing the aviation industry operations to identify the potential threats and hazard and coming up with ways to mitigate the risk factors associated with the hazards (Stolzer et al, 2008). This proactive process will seek to establish what accidents are likely to occur and the reasons why and to ascertain whether the industry is well protected.
An example would be threat of birds in the airport that could be controlled by a devoted Bird Hazard Control Unit. Such a division will have its primary task of proactively ensuring the safety of aircraft operations from the threat of birds using advanced methods for bird hazard control at airports. It is attested that such proactive methods also conform to international conventions on migration of birds. It is affirmed that this is specifically to airports located near bird sanctuaries and water bodies and the methods could still comprise traditional scaring of birds (Stolzer et al, 2008).
