Over the years, the issue of gender pay gap has become a major global challenge as it indicates the differences between men and women’s pay. The nature of gender pay gaps can be either negative or positive. It is important to analyze and monitor the gender pay gaps at both organizational and national levels. The main advantage of the gender pay gaps is assisting in comparison of the economy (Grove, Hussey, & Jetter, 2011). The gender pay gaps allow people to perform international comparison through occupational group’s calculations. The measurements of the gender pay gap have also been essential in the conduction of equal pay reviews towards the assessment of the extent of equal pay among men and women in organizations (Lips, 2013). This assists in the development of relevant action plan towards addressing the wage gaps.  

Research studies indicate that there are non-gender related factors that affect the level of gender pay gap in the society. Such factors include human capital, occupational segregation, and the participation of females in the labor market. Gender pay encourages increased female participation in the labor market. Women are triggered to participate more in taking up employment opportunities available in organizations (Le, Miller, Slutske & Martin, 2011). Considering the influence of gender pay gap, women continue to face discrimination in the labor market. However, the social groups including the women’s rights movement have been able to fight the vice in the society.

Some of the social groups affected by the gender gap issue include the women’s rights movement. The women’s rights movement has sought for strong changes in transforming civic and political rights and provisions of women. The issue has affected the provision of economic rights in the women’s rights movement group (Hirsch, König & Möller, 2013). The issue of gender gap wage differences has also affected other NGOs and government bodies.
